Transaction Fees

Transaction Fees

Stagepay charges a processing fee for transactions. This fee consists of two components: the Stagepay fee and the Stripe fee. These fees help cover the costs associated with processing payments through the Stagepay platform.

Stagepay Processing Fees:

  • Stagepay Fee: 1.25% of the transaction amount.

  • Stripe Fee: Varies based on the country and the type of card used.

How to Pass Processing Fees to Your Customers

Stagepay allows you to pass on the processing fees (2-3%) to your customers. This option helps you to cover the combined fees of 1.25% for Stagepay and the Stripe fees. The Stripe fees can vary depending on the country and type of card used. For detailed information on Stripe's fee structure, please visit the Stripe Fees Overview.

Steps to Charge Card Processing Fees to Customers:

  1. Navigate to the "Settings" section of your Stagepay account.

  2. Select "Processing Fees."

  3. Toggle the option to "Charge card processing fees to customer."

  4. Enter the desired percentage of the total invoice to cover the fees.

(Note: In some jurisdictions, it is prohibited to charge processing fees to your customers. It is your responsibility to comply with applicable laws concerning surcharging.)

Understanding Stripe Fees:

Stripe charges fees for processing payments, which can vary based on multiple factors such as the type of card (credit, debit, rewards, corporate), the transaction method (swiped, inserted, keyed in, or submitted online), and the business’s industry. For a comprehensive explanation of how Stripe calculates its fees across different countries and transaction types, please refer to Stripe’s official documentation on Credit Card Payment Processing Fees.
